Travertine is formed by minerals dissolving in ground water and then deposited on the earth’s surface by rivers or natural springs. Depending on what type of minerals is deposited into the river or natural spring, the travertine will change different colors. If iron is one of the minerals deposited into the water, the travertine will more than likely be gold, red or chocolate in color. For the most part,
travertine will appear as though it is concrete and have colors that will vary from white to tan or cream.
